Michael J. Moore, MD

My name is Michael Moore. I’m a pediatrician at Children’s Physicians, Dundee.

I became interested in pediatrics through training as a medical student. And I enjoy kids — I come from a big family, so I have lots of nieces and nephews. I think that’s what interested me in kids.

I hope my patients would describe me as laid-back — I like to have fun during their visit. We teach students and residents all the time, so we’re actively involved in teaching — which means that we have access to all the specialists through Children’s. We can either do that by phone calls to them or using our electronic medical record so we get real-time information from them, even right after their visits.

We have lots of busy days here. I guess we could say maybe you start to feel sorry for yourself because it’s so busy and tough. But then you get hugs from kids and you understand why it’s such a great job.
